It’s not uncommon for cars to have a gas smell when they are first started. This is usually caused by the fuel vapor that has built up in the engine or from gasoline spills inside the car. The good news is there are some easy fixes you can try before calling a mechanic! The best thing you can do is to start the car and let it idle for a few minutes. This will help burn off any excess gas that could be causing the smell. If this doesn’t work, you may need to get your tank flushed out with fresh fuel or change your spark plugs which are also thought to cause gasoline odors If these remedies don’t solve the problem then there’s an underlying issue in the engine which might require a more serious fix like getting dirty injector valves cleaned up by a mechanic or replacing seals on the top of pistons inside of cylinders – if water has been sitting around them for too long they’ll corrode and leak into engine oil
