I took a class on Facebook marketing that’s been worth its weight in gold for my freelance marketing business. It was taught by a guy who was literally writing the book (and learning) on Facebook marketing at the time!
2. Skillshare is only good if you’re looking to start a business.
Skillshare is actually a great resource for anyone. I’ve taken plenty of classes that were totally unrelated to business. It’s honestly kind of hard to predict what a class will be like until you take it, that’s one of the best parts about Skillshare – you have no idea what you’re going to learn!
3. Skillshare is meant for adults only.
No! There are tons of classes for teens on Skillshare (and many more being added) and tons of great projects and competitions designed especially for kids who want to get started early. There’s something here for every age group in the family, which is one of my favorite things about this site.
4. Skillshare is just for people who want to make money.
They offer a ton of great tools that help people learn how to create a business and make money doing it, but they also offer tons of free classes as well. I know this sounds like common sense, but it isn’t always easy to separate the two sometimes!
5. You have to pay for classes on Skillshare.
Many of the classes you’ll find on Skillshare are actually 100% free – and by that I really mean 100% . Sure, there are a few paid classes here and there (and even we have some) but there are tons of great projects, skills, and classes you can enjoy for free if you’re willing to do a little bit of digging around. Even if you do want a class that costs money, it’s not so expensive it would break your bank. The most expensive class I’ve ever taken was $29, which is totally affordable in my opinion.
6. Skillshare is only for people who want to learn about new things.
While it’s great for anyone looking to try a new skill or learn a new hobby, the real value of Skillshare comes from people who are already interested in learning about a specific topic (or building on their existing skills). If you’re looking for something fun to share with your kids, Skillshare is a great place to check out. They have lots of classes and projects that are perfect for kids and teens of all ages!
7. The classes on Skillshare are too hard.
It depends on what you mean by “hard. ” If you’re looking to learn a new skill that’s super complex, definitely expect to be challenged. For example, a class on stop-motion animation is not for the faint of heart. However, there are plenty of classes that would suit an inexperienced or non-creative person. Just check out the reviews posted by past students before you sign up!
8. You have to be “good” at something to take a class on Skillshare.
Skillshare is all about being creative, whatever your skill level is right now! Take a class and see how much you can learn together with other like-minded people who are working hard to improve their skills just like you!
9. Skillshare only works for digital artists.
