A summertime road trip is like no other adventure. The weather is warm, the scenery is expansive, and the people around you are carefree.

So the last thing you want to worry about before you hit the road is packing for your trip. But as much as we love to travel, we need to remember that it isn’t always easy.

Traveling can be stressful, but it’s important not to neglect important items like your car and personal belongings.

Fomoconews has some more information about the essential summer road trips.

So this blog post will help you prepare for a successful summertime journey by highlighting a list of must-have items that should be packed in your vehicle.

To make this experience as fun and safe as possible.

Here are some Summer road trip essentials

1. Sunscreen

No matter what season you’re in, the sun can be brutal. Just because it’s summer doesn’t mean your guard can be down when it comes to protecting yourself from skin cancer. Slather yourself in sunscreen every hour and when you’re done with that, reapply again just to be sure.

2. Tire pressure gauge

Obviously you want your tires inflated enough that they don’t burst when you hit the road, but if they’re too high you’ll be riding around on eggshells in fear of blowing the tires out every time you drive over a pothole. A tire pressure gauge will ensure your car is set up for optimal performance while traveling so you’ll feel safer and more comfortable on the road.

3. A hat or cap

While it may seem like there is no need for a hat when it’s summer, it’s important to carry one with you anyways. The sun can be very brutal on your head and wearing a hat will protect you from the burning rays that are out there this summer.

Anyone who gets sunburnt can be prone to getting skin cancer- so protecting yourself from the sun is a must! 4. Sunglasses

If a hat and a pair of shades aren’t enough protection from the sun, a pair of sunglasses will help you ward off those harmful rays.

4. Lightweight water

You can never have too much water on a road trip, but what’s even better is that you won’t have to stop every 10 minutes to fill up.

Even though it may seem like there are no outlets along the way, you’ll be surprised at how many there are. If you’re traveling in an RV or motorhome, bring one or two of these bottles with you so you don’t have to stop every hour for water.

5. A cooler of some sort

Bringing a cooler with snacks and drinks is important so that you don’t get dehydrated while out on the road. You’ll also be able to keep your lunch or dinner cool if necessary while being out on the road.

A cooler will keep foods cold for up to 24 hours, ensuring that your next meal won’t be spoiled or warm when you get there.

6. A map of the area

While it’s true that most people are more familiar with their surroundings, there are always little roads and paths you don’t know about which can make a trip very confusing.

If you plan to be out on the road for more than one day, it’s important to have a map of the area with you at all times- just in case you get lost!

7. A camera!

No matter how good your sense of direction is, there will always be moments that are worth documenting. A camera can capture all of the beautiful sights you see along the way!

8. A cell phone

Keeping in touch with everyone you know is important while you’re on the road, but don’t forget about yourself! While you certainly won’t be able to use your cell phone while driving, it can happen so take it with you just in case.

9. Towels & washcloths

Having fresh towels and washcloths can come in handy when you decide to stop for the night! This will allow you to freshen up before eating or showering, saving your other necessities for another day out on the road!

10. A flashlight

You never know when you’re going to need a flashlight if you’re stuck in a dark room or an emergency situation arises. Carrying one with you is a great idea so that you don’t have to dig it out of your glove box every time you need it.

11. A spare tire and tools

A spare tire will allow you to go on farther than if your car didn’t have one- and not having a spare can be dangerous for anyone on the road. You will want something like this with you as soon as possible!

12. A first aid kit

Whenever you’re on the road, it’s important to be prepared for any emergency that may occur. A first aid kit is an essential on any road trip out of the house, but especially during summer.
